lesson 1: planning is smart but not to be heavily relied upon.
my clearly useless original plans were to go climb in yosemite on some big beautiful walls with an equally lovely person. both the walls and the person are temporarily unavailable for very legitimate reasons. thought about being bummed. briefly.
spent a lovely friday at the phantom spires climbing some granite cracks and freakish giant knobs while the storms rolled into the sierras.
today's sunlight woke me sleeping in Cinnabum on highway 1 overlooking artichoke fields and precariously muddy sandstone bluffs. after a night of rain and some mid-morning hail the skies cleared and the air warmed just enough for a much needed bath in the Pacific. some oily skinned creatures jumping not too far away, a solo hawk swirling above, and the hardcover fiction in my hand joined together in a song that went something like this; "shoooby doo-weeeee, joy is free!"
new plan is head to Red Rocks Nevada to climb Epinephrine (my first multipitch ever! -which i have been desperate to revisit ever since) and some other long routes in cooler canyons like ice box and black velvet. while i honestly hope this plan is *successful* i have no doubt that whatever unfolds in the upcoming week will be glorious.
apologies for no new photos on this post. i forgot to put the battery back in the camera :(
